| Poetry often expresses
spiritual things better than prose, because the very idea
of poetry indicates feeling and spirit rather than
intellect alone. We say that a graceful athlete is "poetry
in motion." There is "poetic justice." The best prayers may be spontaneous poems spoken to God. Perhaps the best poems are always prayers. In any case, my attempts to write prayers usually result in poems. A few poems from other authors are included because they express things in a way my poems don't. |
